KATRINA DEL MAR

Katrina del Mar is a New York-based art and commercial photographer, as well as an award winning film director. Her work has been described as “beautiful” exuding an “intimate chemistry” and also as “filth of the highest quality.” Katrina herself has been described as a “major league cutie,” “a wild woman,” “the Lesbian Russ Meyer,” and “apparently, the lesbian stepchild of Kenneth Anger.”

In 2014-5 Katrina launched an experimental webseries, delMARVELOUS: A Day in the Life, Katrina del Mar.
delMARVELOUS focuses del Mar’s sharp eye on everything from art and artists talking about their process and ideas, sexy women, surfing, stupid dance moves, insane ideas, rants, and occasionally, in the tradition of Martin Scorsese, del Mar’s grandmother makes an appearance.
While she refers to herself as a lesbian gigolo – something we hope will to get a glimpse as delMARVELOUS progresses, we will have to watch and see – the press has referred to her as a “wild woman” and the “lesbian Russ Meyer.” 

Katrina has been a photographer for over 20 years. As a freelance photographer, her client list includes Sony Music, Island Records, Polygram, V2 Records, London Records, Time Out New York, People Magazine, Alternative Press, Mademoiselle, and the NYPost. Katrina directs and produces independent films and music videos, commercials, short documentaries, reality television segments, and TV for the internet. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo gallery shows, museums, and club installations. She is a proficient in multimedia design, production and publishing.

A solo gallery show, GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS was presented in 2013 at Participant Inc. in New York City. The work is comprised of photographs, hand made books and video.

A solo gallery show called Gangs of New York was presented in June 2010, at Wrong Weather Gallery in Porto Portugal.

Katrina, invited to teach at the University of the Arts in Bremen, Germany, conducted the first ever Queer Trash Feminist Film Workshop with Katrina del Mar in October, 2010. Participants in the workshop wrote, shot, edited and publicly screened a short film in two days.
